Terms and legal information

Who runs this website and the basic terms for using it. Last updated October 2026.

Who runs this website

Carol Allen, trading as Carol Allen Counselling, sole trader.

Professional membership

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in line with the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. You can find out more about BACP at bacp.co.uk.

My profile is also listed on Counselling Directory.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with any part of my service, please tell me first, by phone or email, and I will do my best to put it right. If we cannot resolve it, you can use the complaints process of BACP, which is available at bacp.co.uk.

What this website is, and is not

The information on this website is general and is not a substitute for professional advice or treatment. Reading it does not create a counselling relationship between us. That begins only when we have agreed to work together.

I am not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999. For urgent mental health support in England, call NHS 111 and choose the mental health option. You can call Samaritans free at any time on 116 123, or text SHOUT to 85258.

Fees

My current fees are shown on the fees page. They may change, and I will always tell you before a change applies to you.

Copyright

The text, design and photographs on this website belong to Carol Allen unless stated otherwise. Please do not copy or reuse them without my written permission.

Links to other websites

This website links to other websites, including Counselling Directory, BACP and the NHS. I am not responsible for their content or how they handle your information.

Liability

I take care to keep this website accurate and up to date, but I cannot promise it is free of errors. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Accessibility

I want this website to be easy to use for everyone. It is built to work with keyboards and screen readers, with clear text and good colour contrast, and it adapts to phones and tablets. If you find any part hard to use, or you would like this information in another format, please contact me and I will help.

Privacy and cookies

How I use your information is explained in the privacy policy. This website does not use cookies.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can deal with any dispute, although this does not affect any rights you have as a consumer where you live.
